Side chairs such as these with their gracefully curving cabriole legs and pad feet in the fashionable late Baroque style were produced in New England, particularly Boston, from approximately 1730 to 1760. Distinguishing features include the "stiles" or back posts with flattened front faces and the rounded compass seat.
