A Ladderback Side Chair for the Willow Tea Rooms, Glasgow
1 of 4
Mackintosh designed this chair for the Willow Tea Rooms on Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street—then home to some of the city's newest shops and largest department stores. All facets of the Willow Tea Rooms were decorated by Mackintosh and his wife, Margaret MacDonald. The design of this chair combines the simplicity of form and construction associated with the work of Aesthetic artists like William Godwin, whose tea table can be seen nearby (#2005.20).
