One pattern book, copyright 1921, entitled Bucilla Blue Book of Initials and Monograms, Volume 30, published by Bernhard Ulmann Co. Inc. This pattern book is comprised of 12 leaves of initial and monogram patterns, all for the letter "C." The insides of the covers include charts of the contents and suggestions for use, and instructions for transferring them. The back cover is a manufacturer's advertisement for Bucilla cottons (cotton thread) to be used in conjunction with monogramming. "Price 15 cents" is printed near the bottom of the front cover. "Copyright 1921 by Berhard Ulmann Co. Inc." is printed at the bottom inside front cover.

One pattern book entitled Designs for Piercing, Chasing and Etching, published by William Dixon Incorporated, Newark, New Jersey, copyright 1937. This book is a looseleaf portfolio of 31 numbered plates, containing "more than two hundred motifs" and a single sheet with prefatory text. There are several plates of images per "series"; the series are entitled: Ornaments, Animals, Birds, Designs, Borders and Initials. A small, vertically-oriented rectangular floral design is centered on the front cover. The back cover, as well as the insides of the covers, are blank.

Rare Books
Collection of 17 metal clasps and other small pieces of hardware detached from bindings in the Huntingon Library's collections. The hardware probably date from bindings made between 1400 and 1525. It is not recorded which items in the collection the hardware belonged to. The materials appear to have been collected by library staff sometime from the 1920s to the 1960s. It is not clear if the hardware detached in the normal course of handling, or if they were removed as part of conservation work on the items. Includes a tortoise shell book cover (front and back boards), decorated with abstract floral designs. The text to which the shell book cover belonged has not been identified.

One coloring book entitled A Boatload of Pictures to Color, illustrated by Corrine and Bill Bailey, published by The Saalfield Publishing Company, Akron, Ohio, and New York, copyright 1938. The title page reads: A Boatload of Pictures drawn for you by Corinne & Bill Bailey. This is a large, novelty coloring book that is 48 unnumbered pages in length. There is a storyline of text accompanying the pictures, written as if the reader was a passenger on a cruise ship. The illustrations are of things, people, equipment and sights associated with cruises and ships. The front and back covers are a single image of a large, modern ship sailing through the water. The cover illustration is signed "Bill Bailey." The insides of the front and back covers are blank. Many of the illustrations have been colored in with crayon. "April 5, 1939, Bruce C. Tibbetts" is written in ms., in purple crayon, on the inside of the front cover.

A half-length oval-shaped studio portrait of Union Captain John B. Colton turned very slightly to the right. Colton is wearing his uniform, has his hair combed across his head, and has a mustache and narrow goatee. The photograph is mounted in a black case lined with dark red velvet, within a gilt-decorated, floral setting.
