The B.D. Jackson Collection of Negatives and Photographs consists of 804 4 x 5 in. and 8 x 10 in. glass plate negatives, 1782 film negatives (including stereo negatives), 2302 black and white photographs (including stereos, postcards, and photograph albums), and related manuscript and ephemeral materials, 1903-1950s (bulk 1920s-1930s), that provide a visual history of the growth of many of the San Gabriel Valley's suburban communities, a survey of many of California's (and the western United States') notable landscapes, and an overview of Jackson's career as a landscape and scenic view photographer.

The C.C. Pierce collection constitutes one of the most important collections of historical photographs of early California and Los Angeles extant. The collection of 10,100 prints was assembled by Charles C. Pierce, a photographer and long-time operator of a thriving Los Angeles photographic business. The collection is divided into nine topical headings devised by Pierce; these include Los Angeles Historical; Indians; Missions; California cities, counties, etc.; Industries and Agriculture; Transportation; Natural History; Art and Architecture; and Miscellaneous Scenery. Within these large sections are smaller categories that focus on the history, landscape, people, civic and cultural events, built environment, and development of Southern California and the Southwest from approximately 1845-1930. Of particular interest are the various Indian tribes depicted as well as all twenty-one of the California Missions.

The Southern California Regional Planning Collection was donated by the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Department, George Marr, Edward Holden, Glen Blossom, Simon Eisner, and Glenda Hamilton to the Huntington Library in 1997. The Southern California Regional Planning Collection is organized into two series: 1) Published Planning Reports Series (organized by individual item numbers) 2) Internal Documents Series (organized by box and folder numbers).The Published Planning Reports Series contains 1,913 individual items that were generated by the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission, Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, and other planning agencies and organizations in Southern California. Type of reports include annual reports, area study, comprehensive planning reports, census, conference papers, general plans, guides to zoning and subdivision, planning proposals, traffic and environmental surveys, zoning ordinance, etc. The date range of this series is 1909 to 2003.The Internal Documents Series contains approximately 913 items in 14 Hollinger boxes. Similar to the Published Planning Reports Series, the majority of the documents were generated by the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission and Department of Regional Planning, followed by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning. Type of documents include census reports, conference papers, maps, memorandums, minutes, photos, plans, reports, speeches, summaries, etc. The date range is 1924 to 2000.

The album is a published collection of souvenir views of Los Angeles, California, and vicinity. Included are views of Figueroa Street; Hollenbeck Home; Adams Street; West Lake Park; Palm Drive; Plaza Church; Broadway and the "old" City Hall; the "old" Court house; Chester Place; a panorama of central Los Angeles; San Gabriel Mission; Marengo Avenue in Pasadena; the Raymond Hotel; the Mount Lowe cable incline railway; the home of Ramona (Rancho Camulos in Ventura County); Avalon harbor and Santa Catalina Island; the Potter Hotel in Santa Barbara; the Santa Barbara Mission; Redlands; the Hotel Coronado in San Diego; and Magnolia Avenue in Riverside.
