A collection of 6 photograph albums and 1 scrapbook of clippings, 1910s-1930s, related to the family of James T. Buck, a newspaper publisher in Texas. The albums contain snapshots affixed with mounting corners, and some say Mrs. J. T. Buck inside the front cover. The photographs document the lives of a young, white, middle class couple, their children, extended family, and friends, mostly in Chillicothe or Crosbyton, Texas, with some images in California and a few other places. Only one album has captions; the others have no writing or identifications. Images show a house in the country, house interiors, children playing, pets, farm animals, family outings, cars, schools, and graduations, with the family seen over 20 or more years. African American children appear in some images: gathered in front of a house, with horses, a boy holding a white baby, and a girl standing in a road holding flowers. There are also photographic postcards of the public school in Chillicothe, Texas; the Chillicothe train depot; and a classroom of children. One scrapbook contains Crosbyton, Texas, newspaper clippings, approximately 1921-1926, regarding James T. Buck and other family members.

Unidentified family photograph album

A commercially produced carte-de-visite photograph album compiled by an unidentified person containing cartes-de-visite, tintype, and cabinet card portraits of men, women, and children. Photographers imprints are from the East Coast including Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut. There are also five additional loose card photographs: a portrait of United States President James A. Garfield, captioned "Our Late President," and one of his wife, Lucretia Garfield by "Pell"; photographs of a family in front of a log-cabin house and a two-story house; and a photograph by S. Marksville of people standing in the front of the C.C. Lass shop, presumably in New York, with an Indian statue on the sidewalk and illustrated newspaper covers displayed in the windows.

Back family photograph album

A photograph album documenting the lives of Seid Back, Jr., Mary Chan Back, and their two children, Dip Gay Seid Back (1915-1983) and Katherine Mae Seid Back Lee (1918-2006). Seid Back, Jr. was the son of prominent Chinese American merchant Seid Back, based in Portland, Oregon. The album begins with a studio portrait of the Back family taken in the early 20th century and continues with the lives of the Back family and friends in locations such as Oregon, Washington, California, and the South Pacific, through the late 1940s. A man who is possibly Dip Gay Seid Back is seen in military clothing at a U.S. encampment; writing on the back says "Men of 13th Gen. Hospital. Dec. 1944. New Guinea." Other photographs show young people, white and Asian, in recreational activities and sometimes posing by new cars or in front of houses. The album depicts the everyday activities of young Chinese Americans during the Chinese Exclusion era, their travels by automobiles throughout the American West, a young Chinese American serviceman in the South Pacific, and interracial marriages between Chinese American women and U.S. servicemen.

Beecher Family photograph album
Visual Materials
An album of 45 carte-de-visite photographs dating from the 1850s-1870s, containing portraits of the Beecher family of New England, as well as abolitionists Lucretia Mott, Robert Collyer and unidentified men, women and children. Subjects include: Charles Beecher (1815-1900), page 3, and Lyman Beecher (1775-1863), page 29, the brother and father, respectively, of noted author and abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe (who does not appear). Two portraits of anti-slavery and women's rights activist Lucretia Mott (1793-1880) are on pages 19 and 20, one a familiar seated view and another more unusual view of her sitting behind a table with her hand on an open book. A portrait of a young Robert Collyer (1823-1912), the clergyman and abolitionist, appears on page 37, with his name written in ink on the mount (the only photograph that appears to have writing on it). The album itself has no writing except for some flower sketches; identifications have been made largely through research, and there may be other Beecher family or friends represented. Other views include three portraits of men in military uniforms, and two portraits of a little girl with a doll.
