The 122 prints depict Alaskan nature scenes, some Native American totems, and a variety of scenic views in the western United States. These photographs were taken circa 1890s. The collection is particularly strong in images of Caucasian tourists; Salt Lake City, Utah; Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs, Colorado; Wrangell, Alaska; Sitka, Alaska; Alaskan natives; glaciers; British Columbia health resorts; and Western railway lines. Brigham Young, a leader of the Mormon Church, is listed as a personal name index term because a photograph of his grave is included in this collection.

A set of full-color scenic view prints of the beauty of the west along the Chevron trail. The set was a promotional give-away at Chevron stations with a new print available each of the twelve week from May 28-August 13 covering the west U.S. states including Alaska and Hawaii and British Columbia.

The 54 prints in this collection depict Alaskan nature scenes, various views of town life (mainly in Sitka), and some Native American totems; these photographs were made ca. 1892. This collection provides insight into the Alaskan environment just before the Klondike Gold Rush. The collection is particularly strong in images of Muir Glacier and the cities of Sitka and Wrangell ca. 1892. In addition to images of these places, the collection includes images of Alaskan Natives; Alaskan Native totem poles; Killisnoo, Alaska; the Native American community of Kasaan, Alaska; the steamboat Star Queen; various glaciers; and Treadmill Mill and Mine at Douglas Island.

A two-color lithograph depicting a view of Columbia in Tuolumne County, California set during the Gold Rush. The foreground of the central image includes factories, a horse-drawn wagon driving across town, and miners working in flumes, depicted against a view of town buildings with hilly landscape in the background. Twelve vignettes of building facades surround the central image; includes views of storefronts, churches, government buildings, hotels, and banks. Townsfolk and individuals on horses and horse-drawn wagons are illustrated in front of the building facades. The title is printed in the lower center of the image. The text below the title reads, "Published by Towle & Leavitt. Columbia, Tuolumne County, Cal." Printed signatures on the lower half of print from left to right read, "From nature on stone by Kuchel & Dresel, 146 Clay St. S.F."; "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1855 by Kuchel & Dresel in the Clerk's Office of District Court of the Northern District of Cal."; and "Printed by Britton & Rey."
