The set is comprised of six small cakes of watercolor paint in wooden tubs, two metal dishes, a paintbrush, a box of 8 (5 are missing) wax crayons, and a painting and drawing book that contains chromolithograph and lithograph images for painting and coloring. Printed at the top of the title on the top lid is "It's an Ullman Coloring Outfit." "The Ullman Mfg. Co., N.Y." is printed at the bottom of the top lid. The drawing/coloring book has been colored in, but not completely. The paints have been used. The painting book bears the copyright date of 1917.

    One boxed set of watercolor paints entitled Pretty Pets Paint Box, manufacturer unknown, ca. 1895. The set is comprised of 28 cakes of watercolor paint, two small porcelain dishes, one paintbrush, a piece of glass, and a 5-inch paper ruler. The cakes of paint are embossed with an artist's palette design, and are contained within wooden dividers in a wooden box (no lid). This box is housed within a paperboard box (which does have a lid). Mounted onto the paperboard lid is a chromolithograph image of three girls, each painting a toy elephant. "2.00" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the image on the lid.

The set is comprised of 40 rectangular, embossed cakes of watercolor paint, two round porcelain dishes, two paint brushes, and two embossed cakes of charcoal. The set is housed within a wooden box with a sliding lid. The paints are divided into 5 rows of 8 each, and each cake of paint is embossed with an image of a family crest. The lid is not labeled; a label is affixed, however, to the bottom of the paint brush compartment.

The set is comprised of 9 small, rectangular cakes of watercolor paint, 2 very small stone dishes, a color portrait of a lady, and a piece of glass the same size. Each of the cakes of paint are embossed with an image of a crown. The set is housed within a paperboard box. The lid is illustrated with a color image of a rectangular wooden palette, the title, and spots of color.

    One painting book entitled Ideal Paint-Box-Book, with Easy Drawing Lessons for Young Painters, published by the Ideal Book Builders, Publishers, Chicago, Illinois, ca. 1907. This book-length painting book contains watercolors, a small palette and paintbrush, all of which folds into a box on the inside front cover. Unnumbered pages of both chromolithograph and lithograph images for coloring comprise the rest of the book. Text in the form of rhymes and poetry accompany most images. The front cover is a chromolithograph image of a boy and a girl painting with two such painting books. Within the body of illustrations, there are several containing racial slurs. The last page is a publisher's advertisement for these and similar painting books. Many of the lithograph images have been colored in with the paints provided. "Patented in United States, Nov. 12, 1907" and "Patented in Great Britain, Dec. 10, 1907" are printed at the bottom of the front cover.

    One painting and drawing book entitled Little Folks' Painting and Drawing, published by Charles E. Graham & Co., New York, ca. 1900. The series title is 0701--Paint Book Series. The front cover of the book shows a little girl holding a palette of watercolors in one hand and a page of her paintings in the other. The back cover repeats the title of the book and features an image of two children asleep in a meadow and watched by four rabbits. The book contains twelve images, some printed in outline, others color printed to show color schemes. Most of the outlined images have been filled in with wax crayon. In the upper right-hand corner of the front cover in pencil is "50 [cents] 6448".
