The set consists of 12 colored pencils within a paperboard box (all are present). The pencils are paper-wrapped; they are "sharpened" by unwrapping layers of paper. Slipped into the box is an informational sheet about the pencils.

One boxed painting set entitled Craft Master, New Artist, Series 24, NA-2432 or Summer Quietude, manufactured by Palmer Pann Corp., Toledo, Ohio, copyright 1958. A paint by numbers set, the kit includes the original 24 jars of numbered paints, one jar of brush cleaner, one paint brush, and an 8-page newspaper-like color catalog of other paint-by-number kits for sale. The two companion "canvasses", entitled 'Summer Quietude', are lacking. The top lid of the cardboard box is illustrated with an image of a wooden palette, a red jar of paint, and a paintbrush that has painted the words "Craft Master." Also pictured, in the upper right-hand corner, are the two paintings included in this kit. Printed on the palette on the front cover is "genuine Kenro artist oil paints in easy to open screw-top jars." Also printed along the lower edge of the top lid is "[Copyright symbol] 1958 P.P. Corp." and "Litho in U.S.A."

Pretty Pets Paint Box

One boxed set of watercolor paints entitled Pretty Pets Paint Box, manufacturer unknown, ca. 1895. The set is comprised of 28 cakes of watercolor paint, two small porcelain dishes, one paintbrush, a piece of glass, and a 5-inch paper ruler. The cakes of paint are embossed with an artist's palette design, and are contained within wooden dividers in a wooden box (no lid). This box is housed within a paperboard box (which does have a lid). Mounted onto the paperboard lid is a chromolithograph image of three girls, each painting a toy elephant. "2.00" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the image on the lid.

Hammett’s Kindergarten Material - No. 475

One boxed set of wooden pegs entitled Hammett's Kindergarten Material - No. 475, manufactured by the J. L. Hammett Co., Newark, New Jersey and Cambridge, Mass, ca. 1885. The subtitle reads: "1000 round sticks, Six colors for Primary Peg Board." The set consists of approximately 200 pegs--red, yellow, blue, orange, green and purple--of the original 1000. The pegs are housed within a paperboard box (red) with a gray paper label mounted to the top lid. The pegs are intended for use with peg boards, such as Mrs. B. Putnam's Busy Work Tiles, No. 1 (Box 80, Set 2).

Prang Stick Printing Dyes: Box No. 1

One boxed dye set entitled Prang Stick Printing Dyes: Box No. 1, manufactured by The Prang Company, New York, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta ,and Dallas, ca. 1910. As stated on the box lid, the set is comprised of "3 color caps (12 pads); 1 water cap (4 pads); 6 printing sticks." Five of the printing sticks remain; some of the color caps have been used. All four "tins" of color and water caps have been used, as have the sticks. The directions for use are printed on the lid.
