    The Falcon Best Crayons with Color Book

    One boxed set of crayons entitled The Falcon Best Crayons with Color Book, High Grade 14 Colors, No. 163 on the front and "The Falcon Best Crayons, Fine Quality, No. 163" on the reverse. The cover of the box shows a young boy using the crayons to draw in the enclosed coloring book. The cardboard box slides open to reveal the small coloring book and the crayons. The book, The Leisure Hour Drawing Book for Instructive Sketching and Coloring Purposes, contains 16 printed images to color. Of the crayons, only 7 remain intact. Others, including two from a different manufacturer, are in pieces.

    Three boxed sets of color crayons entitled Munsell Crayons manufactured by Wadsworth, Howland & Co., Boston, Massachusetts. Set 2 does not have a number on the box, but is labeled "12 colors: five middle colors and five intermediates, with gray and black." Set 3 is labeled as No. 2 Box, containing "five middle colors with gray and black and the maxima of red, yellow and blue." Set 4 is labeled as No. 3 Box, containing "22 colors: five principal hues and five intermediate hues at middle value and middle chroma, five principal hues and five intermediate hues at maximum chroma with middle gray and black." Set 4 is wrapped in sealed plastic. Each paperboard box bears a black and white paper label with the title, contents and manufacture information. Only Set 4 (No. 3 Box) bears the name of the "Munsell Color Co., New York"; but all three sets bear the title Munsell Crayons.

    One boxed set of chalk entitled American The 'Old Faithful' Crayons 1044, manufactured by the American Crayon Co., Sandusky, Ohio and New York, ca. 1900. This set of thin chalk contains 25 different colors, all of which are fragments. The set is housed within a blue paperboard box. Laid in are two sheets containing Italian ms. writing on them.

    Artist's Assortment of Fine Crayons

    One boxed set of color pencils entitled Artist's Assortment of Fine Crayons; the subtitle reads: "In 12 Colors, No. 663, Eberhard Faber; The Lead Used in These Crayons is Carefully Prepared from the Finest Pigments," ca. 1906. The box is divided into a top half which slides off and a bottom half upon which is an image of a windmill by a canal. The side reads "Box Pat. May 15, 1906" and in penciled block print "Eberhard." On the reverse of the box is a listing of colors with corresponding numbers. These are: 6629 Black; 6624 Purple; 6625 Blue; 6628 Green, Dark; 6618 Green, Light; 6615 Blue, Light; 6627 Yellow; 6622 Orange; 6620 Pink; 6626 Red; 6617 Crimson; 6623 Brown. Eleven of the original 12 crayon pencils remain--only #6617, Crimson, is missing.

    One box of chalk crayons entitled The Winner Chalk Crayons, No. 890, manufactured by O.N.C. (Our New Crayon), ca. 1900. The box contains 7 pieces of chalk. Printed on the box are seven phrases: "Seven Colors"; "One Penny"; "For Slate and Blackboard Use"; and "We lead them all." The Falcon trademark appears in the center of the front side.
