One booklet entitled Dixon's Pencils and Colored Crayons for School Purposes, published by the Joseph Dixon Crucible Company, Jersey City, New Jersey, ca. 1911. This booklet is 24 numbered pages in length, and is illustrated with color and black and white reproductions of colored pencil drawings and sketches. An ornamental design is below the title on the front cover. A color advertisement for Dixon's American Graphite Pencils appears on the back cover. The body of the pamphlet is divided into several titled sections: "Drawing as Part of An Education"; "Drawing in Black"; "Drawing in Color"; and "Economy in Crayons." Interspersed throughout are advertisements for Dixon's pencils. Many of the illustrations are signed by Rachel Weston.

The Falcon Best Crayons with Color Book

One boxed set of crayons entitled The Falcon Best Crayons with Color Book, High Grade 14 Colors, No. 163 on the front and "The Falcon Best Crayons, Fine Quality, No. 163" on the reverse. The cover of the box shows a young boy using the crayons to draw in the enclosed coloring book. The cardboard box slides open to reveal the small coloring book and the crayons. The book, The Leisure Hour Drawing Book for Instructive Sketching and Coloring Purposes, contains 16 printed images to color. Of the crayons, only 7 remain intact. Others, including two from a different manufacturer, are in pieces.

The Munsell Color System: Children's Studies in Measured Colors

One pamphlet, copyright 1907, entitled The Munsell Color System: Children's Studies in Measured Colors, by Albert H. Munsell, published by Wadsworth, Howland & Co., Boston, Massachusetts. This pamphlet is 14 pages in length; it is comprised of 3 color plates and 8 pages of text. The text describes the use of color on each of the three plates: "Plate I. The color sphere, with measured scales of hue, value and chroma; Plate II. Color studies with tuned crayons in the lower grades; Plate III. Color Studies with tunes watercolors in the upper grades." The last page contains excerpts from "Appreciations" of the Munsell system; the inside back cover lists artists' materials for sale. "Copyright, 1907 by A.H. Munsell" is printed on the inside front cover. "Mrs. Sarah Berry (?), 14 West Friendship St., Broad St." is written in ms., in pencil, on the back cover.

Creative Expression in Design

One pamphlet/catalog, copyright 1927, entitled Creative Expression in Design, published by Milton Bradley Company, Springfield, Massachusetts. This pamphlet is 32 numbered pages in length, is illustrated with color reproductions of artwork, and includes two additional unnumbered plates of sample illustrations on colored paper. Roughly the first half of the booklet is informational and instructional, the second half serves as an illustrated catalog of a wide variety of artist's materials, including crayons, brushes, paper and paints. A color image of a woman wearing a headdress against a green background graces the front cover. "Cover design by Margaret Voight, a pupil of Polytechnic High School, San Francisco" is printed on the inside front cover. "Copyright, 1927, by Milton Bradley Company, Springfield, Mass." is also printed inside the front cover. The inside back cover and the back cover itself are blank. The text of the booklet emphasizes creativity in design, especially in relation to poster design. The original brown paper envelope accompanies the pamphlet.

The Valesquez Art Crayon: With Art Book for Coloring

One boxed set of colored crayons entitled The Valesquez Art Crayon: with Art Book for Coloring. Under the title is the phrase "pronounced Va - Las -Ki- (Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.)". The cover image features two children, a boy and a girl, using the crayons. The cardboard box has a flip lid which reveals a tray of crayons and small sheet of printed images. There are a total of eight images on the sheet, which is folded in half. The pictures depict children from around the world. All 16 of the crayons in the set are present and do not appear to have been used. The images have not been filled in.
