"Table of Offsets"--small sheet laid in with the six plans. The California was built in 1848 by Wm. H. Webb of New York for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company and these drawings are recreations of the ship based on research done by Mr. Shaw; the plans, which may have been used by ship model builders, contain numerous details, including rigging, outboard profile, and planking. Measurements are for the largest sheet. Focus of item: California (1848-1866 ; 1872-1874).

"Copyright, 1923, in Canada and the United States by the Candian Pacific Railway / Engraved and printed at the Matthews-Northrup Works, Buffalo, N.Y."--text, small type, lower left corner of the map. Poster backed by linen and is tacked onto two wood dowels; meant to hang as a wall map. "C.P.R. World Map"--on verso, in ms., in pencil.
