A three-quarters length studio portrait of Union General (and later President) Ulysses Simpson Grant, with his body turned very slightly to the right, but his eyes looking off to the left. Grant has his right hand tucket in his trouser pocket, and is gripping his open coat at about waist-level. "F. Gutekunst. ; Photog'r." is printed just below the photograph. "F. Gutekunst ; 704 & 706 Arch, Philadelphia" is printed on the verso. There is part of a blue two cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington attached to the verso upside down.

A bust-length studio portrait of an unidentified man, possibly Levi Graybill (see HM 77704 for an image of Graybill in military uniform), turned slightly to the left. The man has a neatly trimmed mustache and short but bushy mutton chops. He is wearing a suit with a small bowtie. "F. Gutekunst ; No. 704 & 706 Arch St. ; Philadelphia" and an armorial crest are printed on verso. There is a green and white three cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington attached to the verso.

A bust-length studio portrait of Union First Lieutenant William D. Milliken of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned slightly to the left. Milliken has a full mustache and goatee that extends as far as his lapels. "Powelson ; photographer ; 58 State St. ; Rochester ; N.Y." is printed in blue on the verso.

A bust-length studio portrait of Union Captain William W. Burke of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned very slightly to the left. Burke has a neatly trimmed but full beard and mustache. "Edward R. Morgan, 1109 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia. ; N.B. The negative of this picture kept for one year. Duplicates furnished at any time within this period." is stamped in black on the verso.

Terry has a small, thin mustache, has his right hand in his coat pocket, and his left hand resting at his waist. There is a blue two cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington attached to the verso.

A full-length studio portrait of Union Major Peter Schlick of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned slightly to the left. Schlick has a thin mustache and a goatee growing from only the bottom of his chin that reaches his lapels. Schlick is resting his left forearm on the back of a wooden chair with floral patterned cushions. "Finley & Sons ; Photographers ; Main Street, Canandaigua, N.Y." is stamped in black on the verso. There is a green, three cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington on the verso.
