Image of the monument to the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers. Monument is topped by a bronze sculpture of a war drum against which are leaning an ammunition bag, a canteen, a wreath and a bayonet. On top of the drum is am infantryman's cap with the cross badge of the Union's Sixth Army Corps. On the front of the monument it reads: 2nd R.I. / Volunteers / Second Brigade/ Third Division / Sixth Corps. In the center of the monument is a carved bas-relief of the shield of the State of Rhode Island. The photograph has been affixed to a card with the photographer's signature and "Gettysburg, Pa." printed in gold lettering at the bottom.

On the face of the monument is carved: 125th New York Infantry, / 3d Brig. 3d Div. 2d Corps. / Recruited in Rensselaer Co. N. Y. / Mustered in at Troy, N. Y. Aug. 27th 1862. / Engaged in 23 battles. / Mustered out at Albany, N.Y. June 5th 1865. Below this above the base is the seal for the State of New York. In the lower left corner of the image, in small neat handwriting, in white, are the numbers: 1074. At the top of the monument is a drum, below that the shamrock emblem of the Union Army's 2nd Corps is prominently carved into the stone.
