    Image of a leaflet, originally folded, advertising tickets by the Santo Domingo Guaranty Company for the Santo Domingo Lottery drawn on December 5th, 1893, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Recto includes a chart listing the number of gifts and amount of money awarded in the drawing. Verso is two folded pages, printed in blue, the left page includes information about the organizers of the event and the banks funding the drawing. Also included is information about winnings from different locations throughout the world. The right page includes text about individuals from Santo Domingo who supervised the drawing: Hon. Luis T. del Costillo and Hon. J.E. Santelices. Both individuals’ names are also signed on recto of print, though the spellings differ, they are signed as “Luis T. del Castillo,” and “J.E. Santetices.” The right of verso is printed in a decorative border with a decorative title that reads, “S.D.L.”

Walmsley, President Louisiana National Bank; Pierre Lanaux, President State National Bank; A. Baldwin, President N.O. National Bank; Carl Kohn, President Union National Bank. The right of the decorative design is signed by former Confederate generals G.T. Pierre Beauregard and G.T. Jubal Early, who both worked as supervisors of the Louisiana State Lottery Company. M.A. Dauphin, president of the Louisiana State Lottery Company at the time, is listed as the contact person for addressed letters.

    Image of a folded leaflet describing the lottery schemes for drawings organized by J.H. Miller & Co. taking place in Baltimore, Maryland throughout the month of June in 1856. Information on recto and verso list prize amounts and dates of the lotteries. Towards the bottom of recto, printed sideways in landscape orientation is information about the grand consolidated lottery of Maryland with 32,396 prizes amounting to $1,202,000. Multiple fonts are used throughout the print, and reward amounts are bolded. Images of hand symbols are used to point out specific rules of the drawings and amounts of winnings.
