Description: Microfilm of the diary of Gilbert Dunlap Greer, along with various family biographies and notes. The majority of the film consists of Greer's 1888-1895 diary. It records his mission to the Lamanites and Pima Indians in 1888, including time he spent in Pima (he also learned the Pima language) and Papuga villages, lists of names of those baptized, and feeling an earthquake. The latter portions of the diary recall his life around Springville and St. Johns, Arizona, where he writes of plowing and ditch digging, attending to schools, and attending church meetings. Also included on the microfilm is a one page typescript of a portion of Greer's 1879 diary; a short biography of Greer; an essay entitled One Hundred Years by Grace Greer Nuttall, who recounts the story of the Greer family, primarily Nathanial Greer and Nancy Ann Terry Roberts, and their life in Texas, the death of Nathaniel from cholera in Kansas, and the family's move to Utah, as well as recalling her own departure for a mission to Texas in 1946; a biographical sketch of Gilbert Greer's mother, Catherine Ellen Camp (1837-1929) by his sister Margaret Ellen G. Pulsipher; and various family notes and genealogies.

Microfilm of the diary of Daniel H. McAllister, kept from 1876-1877 while he was traveling between Utah and Arizona. The volume opens with a brief autobiography, including McAllister's decision to travel to Arizona in 1876. He records in detail his journey from Salt Lake City to Pima County. Once in Arizona his entries focus on daily activities such as digging ditches, cutting timber, agricultural work, and attending meetings. Later entries also cover his 1877 visit to Utah, including stops in Salt Lake City and St. George.

Diary of Lorenzo Dow Young [microform] : 1886-1888

Microfilm of a diary kept by Lorenzo Dow Smith primarily from 1886-1888. The opening pages include a description of the Kirtland Temple and assorted diary entries from 1881 and 1885. Most of Young's diary entries focus on his poor health, the weather, attending Temple services, and visiting friends and family in Salt Lake City. He specifically mentions Franklin Richards, Eliza Roxcy Snow, and Feramorz Little, in addition to his many meetings with his brothers, sons, and nephews. He also mentions events surrounding the 40th anniversary of the first pioneer party to Utah, includes a list of donations made to help Franklin W. Young research Young family genealogy, and records the deaths of his wife Hannah and son Brigham (1860-1887). At the end of the volume is a short family record and brief autobiography by Young, recorded in 1887.

Microfilm of a diary written by Joab Daniel Collier in Vernal, Utah, in 1899. The diary was kept while Collier was attending Uintah State Academy, and primarily follows his school activities.

Diary of James Lovett Bunting [microform] : 1892-1898

Microfilm of the diary of James L. Bunting, covering the years 1892-1898. The majority of the diary focuses on Bunting's daily life in and around Kanab, Utah, including church activities, visiting his children and grandchildren, teaching and attending Sunday school, and noting local news. He specifically describes going to Fredonia as a missionary with Taylor Crosby, attending the Democratic Convention at Orderville and the 1892 Presidential election (he writes that J.L. Rawlins' election to Congress was a "terrible damper" to Utah), a long account of the death of his wife Harriet Dye Bunting, including a brief biography of her (1893), attending the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple (1893), his brief genealogical mission to England (1893), going to St. George for jury duty (1894), and working in the St. George Temple (1897).

Diary of W.J. Sutherland [microform] : 1898-1900

Microfilm of a diary kept by W.J. Sutherland during his mission to the Southern States from 1898-1900. The diary primarily focuses on his time in Florida and Georgia, and recalls traveling by rail, attending conferences, and visiting various Mormons. Portions of the diary appear to be in pencil and may be partially illegible.

Diary of Harriet Dye Bunting [microform] : 1889

Microfilm of a diary kept by Harriet Bunting at Kanab, Utah, in 1889. The first line of the diary states that "I ... am impressed to make a brief memorandum of my acts toward Emily Nash, and her conduct toward me." Emily Nash had come to live with the Bunting family following the death of her grandmother in 1889, and she and Harriet seem to have gotten along well. The majority of the diary entries chronicle Harriet's daily life, such as attending church conferences and Sunday school, holding choir practices, doing housework such as washing clothes and sewing, and attending to ill neighbors. The cover of the diary is identified as James L. Bunting diary, 1883, and also contains a few brief entries from 1885 made by either James or Harriet. The remainder of the diary was kept by Harriet.
