  Microfilm of Christopher Arthur Jones' diary and autobiography, covering events from about 1859-1915. The diary is in multiple hands and is not always in chronological order. It begins with a brief account of Jones' birth and young adulthood, including the death of his father after being struck by lightening in 1859. It also recounts his arranged marriage to Caroline Haight, the daughter of Isaac C. Haight, and includes diary entries for 1860-1862. A section entitled "A Brief Sketch of my History for the year 1874" includes notes on his work with the United Order in Cedar City and lists of general births, marriages, and deaths. An added note lists Arthur's own death in 1915 (he may actually have died in 1918). Diary entries for 1877-1878 record Arthur's experiences in Beaver, Parowan, and Cedar City. A brief note from 1883 recounts his mission to Great Britain. Portions of the diary are very faint and partially illegible, but the rest of the volume appears to be Arthur's autobiography, focusing on his life in Cedar City and elsewhere in Iron County, Utah. Scattered throughout the volume are records of blessings, dreams, letters, accounts, copied notes such as "the History of King Arthur" and "Facts About the Bible," a list of account notes for the Cedar City Co-op (1889), and a list of volumes Arthur gave to the Cedar City Public Library in 1910.

The brief biography recounts Caroline's childhood, her family's moves to Nauvoo and Utah, her participation in plays at Cedar City, and her death at the age of 36. Also includes some genealogy.

  Microfilm of a diary kept by James L. Bunting from 1883-1885. It mainly chronicles his life in Kanab, Utah, including his attendance of prayer meetings and Sunday school, conferences, and ward and stake meetings, as well as his daily activities such as visiting local acquaintances and digging ditches. He also recalls traveling to Salt Lake City.

  Diary of James Lovett Bunting [microform] : 1892-1898

  Microfilm of the diary of James L. Bunting, covering the years 1892-1898. The majority of the diary focuses on Bunting's daily life in and around Kanab, Utah, including church activities, visiting his children and grandchildren, teaching and attending Sunday school, and noting local news. He specifically describes going to Fredonia as a missionary with Taylor Crosby, attending the Democratic Convention at Orderville and the 1892 Presidential election (he writes that J.L. Rawlins' election to Congress was a "terrible damper" to Utah), a long account of the death of his wife Harriet Dye Bunting, including a brief biography of her (1893), attending the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple (1893), his brief genealogical mission to England (1893), going to St. George for jury duty (1894), and working in the St. George Temple (1897).

  Diary of Lorenzo Dow Young [microform] : 1886-1888

  Microfilm of a diary kept by Lorenzo Dow Smith primarily from 1886-1888. The opening pages include a description of the Kirtland Temple and assorted diary entries from 1881 and 1885. Most of Young's diary entries focus on his poor health, the weather, attending Temple services, and visiting friends and family in Salt Lake City. He specifically mentions Franklin Richards, Eliza Roxcy Snow, and Feramorz Little, in addition to his many meetings with his brothers, sons, and nephews. He also mentions events surrounding the 40th anniversary of the first pioneer party to Utah, includes a list of donations made to help Franklin W. Young research Young family genealogy, and records the deaths of his wife Hannah and son Brigham (1860-1887). At the end of the volume is a short family record and brief autobiography by Young, recorded in 1887.

  Autobiography of William Ellis Jones [microform] : 1896

  Microfilm of the autobiography of William Ellis Jones, covering his experiences from childhood through 1896. The first few frames contains notes for ditches for the West Field Canal Co. (appear to be part of Walter S. Tolton, MFILM 00056). The autobiography describes Jones's childhood and family history, his early interest in religion and conversion from Methodism to Mormonism, his arrival in Nauvoo, his experiences in Council Bluffs, his move to St. Joseph in 1855, living in Nebraska in 1856, traveling to Utah in 1861, living near Clover Canyon and Bear Canyon, living in Santa Clara and St. George, teaching school in Hebron and Santa Clara, a list of names of baptisms and endowments (1887), and genealogy notes.
