He wears a dark suit and tie and has a thick mustache and mutton chop sideburns. Printed notes on verso read "P.R. Young McCrum Block, Oneonta, N.Y." MS notes on verso read "HEH, c. 1873" and "Metcalf, 1984." Another copy of this image, HEH 61/1/2 (4), gives the date as circa 1880. Later date used.
