Instructions on cover and the map itself explain that the map is divided into 8 vertical sections, labeled with letters, and 10 horizontal sections, labeled with numbers. The numerous streets, institutions, churches, and theaters listed in the upper right corner are accompanied by a corresponding letter and number which allow the user to locate them on the map. The blank area at the bottom of the map is the Gulf of Trieste.Theaters in Trieste: Mauroner (1827), Fildrammatico (1838), Armonia (1857), Politeama Rossetti (1878) (Between two cultures: Trieste and its writers, 1900-1918 by Fiora A. Bassanese, 1974, page 40). The Armonia is present on the map, but Politeama Rossetti is not, hence the approximate dates. Prime meridian: GM. Relief: no. Projection: Plane.
