    Map of the Washington Irrigated Colony

"The Washington Colony was inaugurated in February, 1878, with five sections of land, Lots 1 to 176, inclusive, which sold so rapidly that the company has added six additional sections, adjoining, of equally good first quality land, Lots 177 to 348, inclusive, this April, 1879." A four page newspaper describing "The Washington Irrigated Colony" in great depth. Centered on the town of Covell, a birds-eye view on the first page along with a greatly distorted submap of California act as inducements for buyers. The offices of the colony are in San Francisco.
