Relief on the map is shown by hachures, and states are represented with varying colors of pink, green, blue, and yellow. The top border with Canada and the lower border with Mexico is outlined in red. The map shows railroads, rivers, capitals, cities and Indian lands. Towards the bottom of the print are engraved views showing images of American history.
