Consists of two series of 20 leaves, one lettered a-v and the second .a.-.v.. Leaves printed on one side only. Printed in brown ink. Huntington Library copy is an early impression of Schreiber edition VI, as the newly recut plates p-q, .c.-.d., .l.-.m. and .t.-.v. do not show the damage to the woodblocks seen in other copies of edition VI. Imperfect: ten leaves lacking (leaves a-b, g-m and .n.-.o.). Many leaves faded. Huntington Library copy misbound when rebound for Pembroke; now in following order: leaves c-f, .p.-.t., v, .v., .a.-.m., n-t. Leaf v detached and kept in a separate folder. Blank leaves pasted together; most leaves faded. Binding: 19th century English gilt-tooled red morocco, in red morocco solander case.

This volume contains the Arati Phaenomena by Avienus (leaves a4r-d3v); Avienus's Latin version of Orbis terrae descriptio by Dionysius Periegetes (leaves d3v-f6r); Ora maritima by Avienus (leaves f6r-g7r); Phaenomena by Germanicus Caesar, with a commentary by Avienus (leaves h1r-m8v); Aratea by Cicero (leaves m8v-n6v); and Liber medicinalis by Serenus Sammonicus (leaves n7r-p6r). Edited by Victor Pisanus. Cf. dedication, leaf a2. Chancery quarto, with paper measuring 20.4 x 14.4 cm. Text in one column with guide letters. Printed initials and initial spaces, most with guide letters. With signatures and foliation; without catchwords. Numerous woodcut illustrations, including 6 large illustrations (leaf A1r: a garden in which plants are being harvested and distilled; leaf A2r: a teacher and four students; leaf C1r: a crowned scholar at his reading desk; leaves C4v-C5r: a banner containing a poem; leaf E1r: a kneeling young man offering a book to a king; leaf Z2r: three doctors at a patient's bedside) and many smaller ones of plants, animals and distillation apparatus.
