Description: A three-quarters length studio portrait of Medora ("Dora") Hereford and Maria de Jesus ("Sue") Wilson (later Shorb). Dora, on the left, is wearing a black top with exposed shoulders, a light colored skirt with black trim, a sheer, gauzy shawl with black trim, a large crucifix necklace, and several rings. Her hair is pulled up on either side of her head, with tight curls hanging down. Sue, on the right, is wearing a dress with vertical stripes and exposed shoulders. Her hair is pulled back, and decorated with wide ribbons. They are holding each other's right hands, with Dora resting her left hand on Sue's shoulder, and Sue holding a small book(?) in her lap with her left hand.

She is wearing a dark dress with a bustle, small train, bows up the side of the skirt, a large bow at the throat, and long sleeves with white lace sticking out at the cuffs. Her hair is parted in the center and pulled up into a dark hat, and she holds a dark umbrella in her gloved right hand. The background behind her is an illustrated scene with a railing leading downward, the sea in the distance, and the sun or moon in the upper left.
