A panoramic view of Golden Horseshoe Camp at Big Bear Lake. The building on the far left has a sign on the roof that reads "Rustic furniture & bait shop". The rest of the buildings are small cabins, most of which are elevated slightly above the ground. There are tall pine and fir trees around all of the buildings. A few automobiles are parked next to separate buildings, and the one next to the furniture and bait shop pulls a flat trailer loading with long, medium sized logs. Writing in white in the bottom left reads "Photo No. 100555". To the left of the ms. note there is a stamp reading "Pettit's Studio ; commercial photographers ; 1416 W. Pico Blvd. ; Richmond 8534 ; Los Angeles 15, Calif."

Signal Hill oil field. January 18, 1931

A slightly elevated panoramic view of an oil field at Signal Hill. There are several dozen oil rigs, or derricks, most with sheds or circular structures, distributed along dirt roads. There is an office for the Armadillo Oil Company on the left, and ms. markings on the right show where Well No. 1 of the Hub Petroleum Corporation is located. There are two notes in white just left of center, reading "Photo No. 1. By ; C.C. Pierce & Co. ; 1572 W. Pico L.A." and "Long Beach Oil Field ; "Signal Hill" ; 1-18-1931".
