    A panoramic view of the Fourth of July crowd at the beach in Long Beach. There are hundreds of people, in a mixture of suits and dresses, and bathing suits. Many of the people are sitting beneath the dozens of beach umbrellas on the left side of the image. Beyond the umbrellas is the Pike, an amusement park with shops and rides, like the tall spiral slide in the background. Further in the distance, on the right, a pier extends into the water. Writing in white in the center of the image reads "Long Beach, Calif. - July 4th, 1923". Farther to the right is more writing in white which reads "Photo No. 268 ; The Aerograph Co. ; 1763 W. Vernon ; L.A. - Calif."

    A panoramic view of the beach, Pike, and pier in Long Beach, taken from just south of the beach, facing northeast. There are hundreds of people and dozens of umbrellas on the beach, and a large number of people in the water as well. The spiral slide in the center and the buildings along the shore are part of the Pike amusement park. A pier extends into the water on the far right.     A very wide, slightly elevated panoramic view of the oil field of Signal Hill, facing north and east. There are hundreds of oil rigs, or derricks, across the landscape. Among the oil rigs there are streets of houses, as well as numerous vacant lots. There are railroad tracks on the far right side of the image, and in the center, where the last seven tanker cars of a train are visible. Beyond the railroad tracks on the right there is a neighborhood of closely spaced houses without any oil rigs.
