Avalon harbor, Santa Catalina Island. 1904

An elevated panoramic view of the harbor at Avalon, on Santa Catalina Island. There are dozens of unoccupied small boats in the harbor. A ferry with two masts and a smoke stack has entered the harbor and is headed towards the pier. Avalon stretches back from the shore, with mostly larger buildings closer to the harbor, and smaller residences farther away. Much of the immediate vicinity is wooded, and there are high hills on either side of Avalon. Writing in white at the bottom reads "Avalon, ; 1904."

A panoramic view of the harbor at Avalon, on Santa Catalina Island. The photograph was taken from somewhere along the northwestern shore of the bay, with the city of Avalon on the far right. There is a boat with a striped canopy and seven or eight people on it being rowed across the center of the image. There are also a few people standing or sitting on the shore. There are several unoccupied small boats on the water, as well as a three mast sailing ship, and few sailboats with their sails up. Writing in white at the bottom reads "Avalon Bay, Catalina. ; 1904."
