Black and white photo montage including two smaller images superimposed over a larger background photo. The larger photo shows the audience listening to Colonel Tom Fitch giving principal address at laying of Los Angeles Times building cornerstone in 1911. Smaller inset on left shows John P. Krempel, architect, on left and Carl Leonardt, contractor, handling "time capsule" box. Cut-out photo to right is of publisher Harrison Gray Otis in profile. Photo has written text on top border, with white and gray paint around specific areas, with some pencil lines drawn around outlines of objects.

    Leo Thiele Collection (17 items, received 2/2/1981) including an assortment of original art by Leo Thiele (editorial cartoons from Mirror News), photos of Thiele receiving awards, other memorabilia, 1950-1957. Original art work and clip from LAT depicting the judges in the Adolf Eichmann tribunal (Nazi war criminal Eichmann was executed in 1962), 1961. Paul Conrad, cartoon, 1965, 13" x 15." Illustration, probably done following Stan Laurel's death, (2/23/1965) shows Laurel & Hardy (who died in 1957) as angels. Conrad wrote a dedication on this print: "With best regards to Pete Calvert - Paul Conrad," 1965. Paul Conrad cartoon, caption begins, "O the sun shines bright on my old Kentucky home..."
