    One painting book entitled Animals to Paint, published by the Saalfield Publishing Co., Akron, Ohio, 1910. The front cover of the book depicts a lion family; the name "Gerald" is written in ms., in pencil in the upper left-hand corner. The book consists of twenty-four outline images. The first page describes the book as: "a paint book for boys and girls which supplies sketches ready to color." and gives instructions on the use of watercolor. There book consists of twenty-four images of various animals, six of which have an identical color image meant to guide the student in the use of color. Most of the images have been filled in with crayon rather then watercolor.

Hubble Collection." In the painting, Knowles is sitting at a table, holding a glass of red wine. he appears to be wearing a blue velvet jacket, and bow tie.

Leland, Korea war veteran, is a student at Los Angeles County Art Institute, which grew out of Gen. Otis' gift of his home for use as an art center."

    Young America Painting Book: for Young People with Easy Drawing Lessons

    One painting book entitled Young America Painting Book: for Young People with Easy Drawing Lessons, published by Platt & Nourse Co., New York, 1913. This painting book is composed of unnumbered pages containing color and outline illustrations; the latter were meant for coloring. The front cover is a chromolithograph of three children painting a mural. "Copyright 1913, The Platt & Peck Co." is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the image. The back cover is blue, and is not illustrated. The front and back pastedowns are illustrated and have been colored in with crayon. Printed on the verso of the title page is : "Copyright, 1913, by the Platt & Peck Co." This is followed by three pages containing an introduction and illustrated definitions of terms used in drawing and painting. The sample color images and those for coloring include scenes of children at play, toys, animals and flowers. Many of the images have been colored in with crayons.
