    Original water-color drawings, for bridges and other works to be constructed, mostly on London and Birmingham Railway. Includes some 14 lithographs, some of the drawings, some of the originals elsewhere. Note: This has been catalogued as a Rare Book, and has Rare Book call number 10030. It was transferred to the Manuscripts Department in 1929.

    Microfilm of assorted documents assembled by James Bleak as historian of the Southern Utah Mission. The first volume, dated 1872-1873, contains notes on meetings held in the St. George Tabernacle, notices of member deaths, theological and church policy notes, references to the development of Santa Clara, and references to Brigham Young, Edward Bunker, and Charles Pulsipher, among others. The second volume is a letterbook of the Rio Virgen Manufacturing Co., dated 1870-1875. The majority of the letters are signed by agent Joseph Birch from Washington, Utah, and relate to business operations and orders for supplies. The reel also contains minutes from meetings of the Executive Committee of St. George Stake, Zion (1874) and a statement on Indian Troubles at Colorado Ferry in 1875. Various documents also relate to the United Order at Orderville, including Articles of Association, a schedule of property appraisals, a ledger of financial statements for 1879, lists of those who joined or left the Order in 1875-1876, names of the boards of directors, and a history of Orderville with assorted records and correspondence dated 1904. The reel also contains documents related to the Iron Military District, including a list of officers in the 2nd Battalion (1864-1870) and a Master Roll of the Volunteer Cavalry Battalion (1866).

    Associated Pioneers of the Territorial Days of California Papers

    The papers consist of various correspondence and ephemera associated with the Associated Pioneers of the Territorial Days of California. The subject matter of the correspondence include the concerns of the organization such as meeting announcements, resolutions, propositions, election of officers, and the organization's Articles of Association. A large portion of the correspondence is authored by Frank D. Clark, who was the organization's secretary, and one of the primary addressees is Stephen L. Merchant. Notable correspondence include letters dating when the Articles of Association were adopted (1876, April 3), describing the Society's badges (1876, May 3), stating resolutions adopted for the Society (1876, May 22), stating fees that were paid for admission into the Society (1878, June 20), planning for a permanent headquarters for the Society as well as a library and museum (1879, Jan. 20), and a letter calling to act in honor of John Sutter (1882, Mar. 1). The papers also consist of a variety of different ephemera printed by the organization. The majority of ephemera include pamphlets, brochures, and invitations for the organization's annual meetings and social events. Ephemera include newspaper clippings about individuals such as Stephen L. Merchant, Francis D. Clark, Emperor Norton I of San Francisco, Julius Martin, and they also include newspaper articles about the organization and descriptions of their various social events. Other ephemera include the Society's ribbon, songbooks, membership applications, a list of the members of the society, a copy of the "Song of the Argonauts" or "The Days of ´Forty-Nine" written by Samuel C. Upham, and brochures about the society. A notable item is a 14th Annual Reunion Meeting booklet that contains firsthand accounts from original Pioneers.

Post) to Otis Chandler, Williams, et. al., suggesting a meeting in Wash.; memos on the subjects for discussion at the Jan. 1963 meetings between LAT and Wash. Post execs; "Progress Report: the First Six Months" (on the Times-Post Newsservice); further memos on the ups and downs of the newsservice and on its operations; etc.
