Microfilm of assorted diaries, account books, and notes kept by James Stephen Brown. The microfilm includes fragments of diaries dated Ogden City 1860, Calhoun, Iowa, 1849, and Salt Lake 1859; a diary identified as Nottingham, England, which opens in 1857, when Brown delayed his mission work to participate in the Utah War, and traces his travels through Utah, his overland journey to New York, and his mission in England from 1860-1861; a second diary covering Brown's mission in England; an 1872 diary tracing his mission work in New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts; an 1875-1876 diary describing his travels through Utah and mission to Navajos in Arizona; assorted family notes dated 1900; a typescript of Brown's 1875-1876 Navajo diary; an 1875-1876 Utah diary; a diary dated 1892 tracing a mission to the Society Islands; an account book dated 1863-1866; and a diary dated 1870, which mainly contains account notes from 1866-1870.

Microfilm of the diaries of Frihoff Godfred Nielson, covering the years from 1874-1935. The diaries primarily consist of brief entries describing Nielson's daily life in Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, including local news, trading with Indians, Church affairs, and agricultural work. The diaries also chronicle his mission to the Northern States and his work on the Temple in Mesa, Arizona. The diaries are arranged on three reels as follows: Reel 1 - 1875-1876 diary identified as "Peters and U.P.R.R., Morgan County, Utah;" a diary dated 1874-1875; and two diaries identified as Sunset, Yavapai County, Arizona, and dated 1876-1879 and 1879-1886; Reel 2 - continuation of the same diary from 1886-1897; a diary dated 1898; a diary dated 1899-1900 and identified as Ramah, New Mexico; and a diary begun at Marshall, Illinois, and dated 1900-1902; Reel 3 - diary dated 1902-1935 and a brief, chronological autobiography.

Diaries and autobiography of William Wallace Flanigan [microform]: 1875-1925

Microfilm of a total of thirteen diary and autobiographical volumes kept by William Wallace Flanigan from 1875-1925. The reel opens with a three volume autobiography and diary, which was begun at Kane County, Utah, in 1875 and covers Flanigan's life in Utah through 1903. The diary volumes, which are not in chronological order on the reel, are dated 1899, 1901, 1903, 1905, 1906, 1917, 1921, 1923, and 1925. They chronicle Flanigan's daily life in Utah, including at Rockville, Washington, Springville, Provo, and St. George. He writes frequently about his daily activities and labors, agricultural work, attendance of meetings, the weather, and his work at a school house. The reel also contains some loose pages with autobiographical writings to about 1895.

Diaries of Samuel W. Richards [microform] : 1851-1909. Reel 6b

Microfilm of forty diary volumes kept by Samuel Whitney Richards from 1851-1909. The first three volumes, dated 1851-1852, 1853, and 1854, were kept during Richards's mission to Great Britain. The fourth diary, dated 1857-1858, was kept in Utah and includes commentary on the Utah War. The fifth diary, dated 1869-1870, was kept while Richards was traveling through Utah and also includes some poems and genealogy. The fifteen diaries dated 1870-1889 were kept yearly (excluding 1873, 1875-1878, and 1887) and include almost daily entries on Richards's life in Utah, specifically the Ogden area, and focus on his temple work, agricultural and farm labors, visiting friends and relatives, church news, the weather, and his health. The three diaries dated 1895-1897 were kept during Richards's time on the Eastern States Mission, primarily in New York (mainly the Nassau County area) and New Jersey. The remaining seventeen diaries, dated 1898-1909, also describe Richards's daily life in Utah. The diaries are arranged on eight reels as follows: Reel1 - diaries dated 1851-1879; Reel 2 - diaries 1880-1885; Reel 2(b) - diaries dated 1886-1889 and 1895-1897; Reel 3 - diaries dated 1890-1894; Reel 4 - diaries dated 1898-1898; Reel 5 - diaries dated 1900-1904; and Reel 6 - diaries dated 1905-1909. Reel 6(b) contains miscellaneous diary fragments from 1854, 1870, 1882-1883, 1890, 1895, 1897, 1902-1904, and 1909.
