Approximately 25 items. Folder contains telegrams, correspondence [including letters to/from Walter Annenberg, Otis Chandler, Melvin Belli, Alan Cranston, Thomas E. Dewey, J. Edgar Hoover, H.R. Haldeman, Hubert Humphrey, Estes Kefauver, [actor] George Kennedy, Vance Packard, William P. Rogers, Pierre Salinger, Harold Stassen, and Jesse Unruh. The subject matter or the letters varies, several are congratulatory notes on the release of a film based on Bassett's novel, In Harm's Way in 1965.

Attached to most of them are comments by Nick Williams and/or Bassett. Also included are some clippings from the editorial pages of LAT. William Durant letter removed from Autograph File and returned to Bassett files.

Approximately 80 items. A number of pieces of correspondence show that Bassett continued his book reviewing for Broadcast Music Inc. Several items show that persons unacquainted, or only slightly acquainted with Bassett sought advice or job referrals from him. There are copies of letters addressed to Sen. Thomas Kuchel and Vice Pres. Nixon. Correspondence also shows that B. kept in touch with Navy friends and associates. On the occasion of a 1957 promotion, B. received congratulatory letters from public relations and business firms, including AT&SF Railroad and Ice Capades Intl., and media outlets including United Press Associations and the San Diego Union, and one Superior Court Judge, Stanley Mosk, and Caspar Weinberger (Calif. Assembly), etc. The remainder are various private and business communications. William P. Rogers letter removed from Autograph File and returned to Bassett files.

Approx. 75 items. The folder contains a wide array of personal and business correspondence. In addition, there are programs, business cards, news clippings, a 1968 membership list for the International Press Institute, etc. There are two smaller folders inside. They contains material related to Bassett's 1968 Far East trip and a planned trip to Israel which was canceled. Notable names and items include: William F. Buckley, Jr. ; (CA Lieut. Gov.) Robert Finch ; "International Press Institute Membership List, " 7/1/1968 ; Bassett's International vaccination booklet ; materials related to Bassett trip to Far East, contains letters, maps and travel guides related to the Pacific, Australia, the Philippines, etc. ; materials related to canceled trip to Israel - containing informational material. Split into two folders.
