    Approx. 35 items. Materials include: memos, form letters, cover letters, etc., from the period of time leading up to the 1970 pressmen's vote at LAT. The vote was conducted on 7/9/1970. The result of the vote was decertification of the pressman's union at LAT. The news brief that ran 7/10/1970 had the headline: "Times pressmen vote to leave union, 213 to 134."

Local 174 (typographical union), 5/1957; cover and articles copied from The Californians, 7/1984, several articles on labor agitation in L.A. area, especially San Pedro in 1920s; 60-pp. copied from a book, Los Angeles, by Morrow Mayo in 1932.

Times Mirror-produced materials urge pressmen not to "fall under the control of Local 18," while the union materials urge the pressmen to "stand with your fellow pressmen" under union representation: copies of 3-part series in Nation's Business, (11/1966 - 1/1967), "What to do when the union knocks"; related materials.
