"Seven copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the NAEA-CNAEA [Newspaper Advertising Executives Association - California Newspaper Advertising Executives Association] Convention in San Diego, California on June 24, 1965. Four of the copies are in a form of a pamphlet. The other three are stapled copies. Also included in this folder is a pamphlet detailing the events of the convention; a letter from Robert C. Pace, Secretary-Treasurer of NAEA, to Vance Stickell with a copy of the NAEA Digest attached to it; a letter from Clair B. Otis, 2nd Vice President of NAEA, to Otis Chandler thanking him for his participation at the convention; a letter from Clair B. Otis to Fenton Palmer, Zone Advertising Manager for the Los Angeles Times, informing Palmer of individuals that have been asked to be members of the Program Committee; three pages of correspondence between Clair B. Otis and Otis Chandler pertaining to Otis Chandler being asked to speak, Otis Chandler accepting the invitation, and Clair B. Otis thanking Chandler for accepting; two letters of correspondence between John S. Knight, President and Editor of the Akron Beacon Journal, regarding a request for a copy of Otis Chandler's speech and Otis Chandler's response by sending him two copies; a letter to Bernard P. Gallagher of The Gallagher Report Inc., from Otis Chandler in which he sends him a copy of his speech; three pieces of correspondence between Thomas V.H. Vail of The Plain Dealer, and Otis Chandler regarding Otis Chandler's speech, the third piece of correspondence is actually addressed to Charles T. Lipscomb, Jr. of the Bureau of Advertising, and that letter has a CC to Otis Chandler; two letters of correspondence between Harold Tucker, Vice President of Cresmer, Woodward, O'Mara & Ormsbee, Inc., regarding the speech; and two letters of correspondence, one from Seymour L. Linfield of The Diebold Group, Inc., to Otis Chandler requesting a copy of the speech, and a response from Otis Chandler's secretary RSR, sending him a copy on Otis Chandler's behalf."

Three copies of a speech, entitled "The Greater Responsibility" given by Otis Chandler at the Sigma Delta Chi Annual Convention on Thursday, November 16, 1967. One of the copies has a cover sheet. Other items in this folder include a bag full of newspaper clippings; a telephone message from Professor Stephen Slingsby of Cal State College [Cal State Los Angeles]; two letters of correspondence between John V. Lindsay and Otis Chandler, regarding thank yous and whether a copy of the speech was sent to members of the Commission on Civil Disorder; five letters of thank yous and praises about the speech, one letter has attached a response from Freddie Miller; six pieces of correspondence requesting a copy of the UCLA readership study that Otis Chandler mentioned in his speech, two of the letters are responses to the inquiries; two letters of correspondence with John Cowles, Jr., Editor of the Minneapolis Tribune, in which Otis Chandler asks for a copy of the introduction that John Cowles, Jr. wrote, and John Cowles, Jr. responds and attaches a copy of the introduction; two letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Felix R. McKnight, Co-Publisher and Editor of the Dallas Times Herald, a piece he just wrote regarding Otis Chandler's speech; two pieces of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Russell E. Hurst, Executive Officer of Sigma Delta Chi, in which a certificate of appreciation is being sent; a letter from Lyle L. Erb, Editor of Seminar, to Otis Chandler, asking for permission to reprint the speech and Freddie Miller responding in a separate letter stating it was fine and sent to Lyle L. Erb a copy of the speech and a glossy photograph of Otis Chandler; two copies of Seminar in which the speech was reprinted in; handwritten notes on a manila folder, only half the folder is included; a letter to Leonard Inskip, of the Minneapolis Tribune, from Freddie Miller regarding speeches, biographical information and photographs requested; a letter from Dale A. Jensen, Chairman of the Promotion Committee of the Sigma Delta Chi National Convention, requesting an advanced copy of the speech, and a letter from Freddie Miller in response stating that its not standard policy to send out advanced copies of the speech, but that Otis Chandler would have many on hand to distribute; five letters of correspondence between Bernie Ridder, Publisher of St. Paul Dispatch and Pioneer Press, and Otis Chandler regarding his possible accommodations while in town; a letter from Stuart Baird, Office of Information Services at Macalester College, offering transportation services; two letters from Robert M. White II, Editor and Publisher of Mexico Evening Ledger, thanking him and providing brief details about the speech requirements; four pages of handwritten notes of the speech; and a one page trip itinerary.

Also included in this folder is a clipping from the November 19, 1966 Ad Age, which discusses Otis Chandler's speech; four pieces of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Edward L. Gaylord, Executive Vice President of Oklahoma Publishing Company, requesting Otis Chandler as speaker, Otis Chandler accepting, Edward L. Gaylord thanking Otis Chandler for accepting, traveling to make the speech, and apologizes for the turnout [three of the letters are attached along with a memo from Freddie Miller to Otis Chandler, as a refresher about the presentation]; a newspaper clipping regarding the speech; memos between Otis Chandler and Nick Williams regarding ideas on what to right the speech about; a letter to Edward L. Gaylord, Executive Vice President of Oklahoma Publishing Company, from Freddie Miller requesting additional information about the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association for Otis Chandler for preparation of the speech; and a two page letter from Claude V. Capers, Manager in the Labor Relations Department at the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association, in which he sending the information requested.

Four copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Jewish Federation Council on Sunday, January 23, 1966. Two of the copies are drafts. Attached to the draft is a memo from Freddie Miller informing Otis Chandler on pertinent facts about the luncheon. Other items in this folder include are a copy of the Heritage Southwest Jewish Press and a newspaper clipping that refer to the award presented to Otis Chandler by the Jewish Federation Council.

Four copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Colorado Press Association Convention on February 21, 1969. Four of the copies are in pamphlet form. Also in this folder are twenty-three letters of correspondence, which included two letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Palmer Hoyt, Editor and Publisher of the Denver Post, in which Hoyt is sending Chandler tear sheets and Chandler response with a thank you letter; two letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Harold Willens, President of Factory Equipment Supply Corporation, requesting copies of the speech and Chandler informing him there weren't enough printed; eight letters of correspondence in which six are inviting Otis Chandler as guest speaker and two Otis Chandler accepts; seven letters and two note cards of correspondence, seven items in which congratulate Otis Chandler on a great speech and two Otis Chandler response with thank yous; a thank you letter from Ken Johnson, General Manager of the Daily Sentinel; and a letter from Hal Hall, Owner and Manager of the Red Mountain Lodge, in which he criticizes Otis Chandler's speech.
