Supervisor Warren Dorn, The Greater Los Angeles Press Club, etc. Also many personal notes, including more relating to the novel and film based on Harm's Way ; set of notes typed on 7 sheets from a small notepad, may have been for a speech on the subject of governing California and/or Los Angeles, n.d. ; 2-pp. memo from Nick Williams to Bill Thomas, Bassett and others on the subject "State Department Seminar visit."

Includes an invitation to the inauguration of Nixon-Agnew in January 1969, an accusatory letter from a reader who is canceling their subscription for various reasons, including "We think Mr. (Paul) Conrad is a sick man," and a 1969 employee ID card for Bassett. Prominent persons in correspondence with Bassett: McGeorge Bundy, Robert Novak (journalist), and Caspar Weinberger.

Approximately 12 items. There is a 7-page typed review of Washington Irving's (Knickerbocker's) History of New York, which Bassett submitted as a radio script to Broadcast Music , Inc. (NY). Various business and personal letters are in the folder. There is a "Citation of Meritorious Service" that was awarded to Bassett by the American Legion "in recognition of his outstanding reporting for the Los Angeles Mirror..."

Approx. 60 items. Folder includes 37 typed pages of a manuscript. Handwritten notation at top of page 1 appears to read, "Full text of 'War Bards'...", and a passport-style photo of Bassett. Also included are letters and memos from/to William Targ [Editor in Chief, G.P. Putnam Sons], David Halberstam [historian, author], Robert Erburu [Pres., Times Mirror], John Anson Ford [County Supervisor for 24 yrs.], greeting cards and one mildly risque drawing by cartoonist Ted Bloodhart.
