Material mostly written between 1960s and 1990s but examining the Los Angeles lifestyles of earlier decades. Highlights: original of house sales booklet, The New Spanish Bungalow, 1923; multi-page tear sheet, L.A. Herald-Examiner, 12/31/1967, "The Los Angeles that Was"; typed list (7-pp.) of 145 "Historic-Cultural Monuments" in City of Los Angeles, as of 1975; 2 copies of a postcard featuring Dominguez Adobe Rancho San Pedro labeled "Historic Preservation" postmarked "first day of issue Sep 16, 1984".

Also a 1958 Philip Chandler memo on LAT mail procedures and mail costs, and 1989 LAT flyer, "The Case of the Relocated Departments," to explain (with humor) how to find departments that had been relocated across Spring St. from Times Mirror Square (text, map and illustrations).

Chapin, a collection of approx. 90 Chapin illustrations (published 1899); article copy, Among Ourselves, 5/1948, "personality sketch" on Chapin for the occasional column "The Men who made The Times."
