Manager Walter Pfaffenberger (1935) dealing with proposed creation of a Personnel Dept., hiring practices and compensation rates ; the 1937 creation of the Personnel Department ; 5-pp. "text of Norman Chandler's 1947 Christmas speech (which) stressed the continuity of employment at The Times, the feeling of family among employer and employee and alluded to the threat of communism" ; messages from the publisher reflecting the increasing size and complexity of LAT operations.
