Also included in this folder are two memos regarding the reading of the speeches. One is addressed to "RLF" from "G" [George?], and the other to "George and Spence" from "RB".

A copy of a speech entitled "Why A Newspaper in an Electronic Era" given by Otis Chandler at the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association on November 15, 1966. Also included in this folder is a clipping from the November 19, 1966 Ad Age, which discusses Otis Chandler's speech; four pieces of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Edward L. Gaylord, Executive Vice President of Oklahoma Publishing Company, requesting Otis Chandler as speaker, Otis Chandler accepting, Edward L. Gaylord thanking Otis Chandler for accepting, traveling to make the speech, and apologizes for the turnout [three of the letters are attached along with a memo from Freddie Miller to Otis Chandler, as a refresher about the presentation]; a newspaper clipping regarding the speech; memos between Otis Chandler and Nick Williams regarding ideas on what to right the speech about; a letter to Edward L. Gaylord, Executive Vice President of Oklahoma Publishing Company, from Freddie Miller requesting additional information about the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association for Otis Chandler for preparation of the speech; and a two page letter from Claude V. Capers, Manager in the Labor Relations Department at the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association, in which he sending the information requested.

Three copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Arizona Newspaper Association on January 21, 1977. One of the copies does not include the introduction and another copy has hand written notes on it. Other items in this folder include two letters from Eugene N. Marten, Publisher of The Verde Independent, requesting Chandler to be speaker and the other he thanks Chandler for accepting. Attached to these two letters are notes from Freddie Miller urging Chandler to accept. A letter of praise from Mrs. Eugene C. Pulliam [Nina Pulliam], Publisher of the Phoenix Republic and Gazette; a letter of praise from William J. Woestendiek, Executive Editor of The Arizona Daily Star; a memo from Robert L. Flannes to Otis Chandler regarding Alan Moyer. Attached to this memo is a note from Donna Swayze to Freddie Miller informing her that Chandler already talked to Moyer and Chandler declined the speech request. A thank you letter from Hal Marshall, Director at The University of Arizona News Bureau, and a response thank you letter from Otis Chandler; a letter for praise from Paul A. McKalip, Senior Editor at the Tucson Daily Citizen, and a response thank you letter from Otis Chandler.

"Seven copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the NAEA-CNAEA [Newspaper Advertising Executives Association - California Newspaper Advertising Executives Association] Convention in San Diego, California on June 24, 1965. Four of the copies are in a form of a pamphlet. The other three are stapled copies. Also included in this folder is a pamphlet detailing the events of the convention; a letter from Robert C. Pace, Secretary-Treasurer of NAEA, to Vance Stickell with a copy of the NAEA Digest attached to it; a letter from Clair B. Otis, 2nd Vice President of NAEA, to Otis Chandler thanking him for his participation at the convention; a letter from Clair B. Otis to Fenton Palmer, Zone Advertising Manager for the Los Angeles Times, informing Palmer of individuals that have been asked to be members of the Program Committee; three pages of correspondence between Clair B. Otis and Otis Chandler pertaining to Otis Chandler being asked to speak, Otis Chandler accepting the invitation, and Clair B. Otis thanking Chandler for accepting; two letters of correspondence between John S. Knight, President and Editor of the Akron Beacon Journal, regarding a request for a copy of Otis Chandler's speech and Otis Chandler's response by sending him two copies; a letter to Bernard P. Gallagher of The Gallagher Report Inc., from Otis Chandler in which he sends him a copy of his speech; three pieces of correspondence between Thomas V.H. Vail of The Plain Dealer, and Otis Chandler regarding Otis Chandler's speech, the third piece of correspondence is actually addressed to Charles T. Lipscomb, Jr. of the Bureau of Advertising, and that letter has a CC to Otis Chandler; two letters of correspondence between Harold Tucker, Vice President of Cresmer, Woodward, O'Mara & Ormsbee, Inc., regarding the speech; and two letters of correspondence, one from Seymour L. Linfield of The Diebold Group, Inc., to Otis Chandler requesting a copy of the speech, and a response from Otis Chandler's secretary RSR, sending him a copy on Otis Chandler's behalf."
