Kienholz Exhibit, Los Angeles County Museum of Art

    Manuscripts

Approx. 35 items. Memos, letters, handwritten notes, newspaper clippings. The subject of these was the Edward Kienholz exhibit at the County Art Museum. Sexual subject matter and obscene images in the show ignited a controversy. Politicians--Warren Dorn, Kenneth Hahn, etc.--announced their stance on the show. Readers around the region sent in letters. Nick Williams wrote an article [included here] titled "Surveying the Kienholz Row."
