Subjects included: 9-9-65 Press Release on the introduction of West; memos related to both Home and West magazines; Williams' March 1966 memo describing the "freelance" operation of West; planning for the magazine, early evaluations of quality of the product; Otis Chandler's (9/1966) conclusions on how to "save" [underscore his] West by targeting "sophisticated men...[in the] 20-to-50 age group," and by featuring material on water sports, all automobiles from dune buggies to dragsters, motorcycles, "booze, sophisticated sex...music and cultural stuff...hi-fi, jazz," etc.; Robert Nelson's comments on the prototype and his comments on O.     First published on September 11, 1966, West was designed for the male reader, as a counterpoint to Home. The original focus was on sports, outdoor activities, and cars, but transformed into a writer's magazine with a more trendy point-of-view. The last issue was published in 1985. Date range is 1966-1972. September 1966-October 1972 are bound into volumes.
