    Hoke, Fleeta Files

    Manuscripts

    Fleeta Hoke (1901-1995), better known as "Marian Manners," was the earliest food editor of the Times. From 1939 to 1964, Hoke edited the food articles and demonstrated recipes and cooking techniques at the Times's "College of Cookery." Includes recipe cards, correspondence, photographs, publications, and objects. Date range is 1931-1970s.

    3 items: letter, 11/1/1949, from Norman Chandler to "Fellow Employees" of Times-Mirror, noting that "October 11th (was) the first anniversary of the birth of The Mirror," and praising that publication ; two invitations to "Mirror 40th Reunion," which was scheduled for 10/9/1988, at Hollywood Studio Museum, one is clean, one has the handwritten note, "C.S. - Sure hope you make it. - Best, Delmar (Watson).
