    30+ items: LAT clips (and a few other items) following the ups and downs of Barry Goldwater's 1964 primary races, the Republican nomination for president in the summer of that year, and the final campaign and defeat. Notable item: a 5/20/1964 letter from Edwin McDowell of the Arizona Republic, to James Bassett, Director of LAT Editorial Page, expressing "disappoin(ment) that the conservative Times...decided to support Rockefeller in preference to Goldwater."
