Approx. 30 items: large selection of articles by and about David Shaw, a writer who, in the words of LAT co-worker Doug Shuit, "loves the spotlight and fights hard not to let it elude him," some of Shaw's internal LAT memos and correspondence with people at other newspapers, attorneys, and his own editors; in a 1975 response to a critical letter by a Mr. Parsons, Shaw offers that, as a media critic, "I will be criticized no matter what I do," and adds, "I have long since become inured to criticism"; 18-pp. text of Shaw's speech to the Los Angeles Times Management Conference (1/6/1988); etc.
