The autograph album contains autographs, caricatures, cartoons and drawings. The autographs in the album include U.S. presidents Theodore Roosevelt (1911 March 21) and William H. Taft (1911 October 16), politicians, cartoonists, actors, aviators, athletes and musicians; it appears many of the autographs were from guests staying the hotels managed by W.H. Sibbald. There is also a leather case with snap closure and one folder of printed ephemera with clippings, obituary, and a copy of a 1950 Los Angeles city resolution (5 pieces).

Mary Lupton album amicorum

This autograph album contains a miscellany of poetry, prose and drawings penned between 1822 and 1829 by various friends and acquaintances of Lupton; there are 98 pages of text, 11 full page drawings in watercolor or pencil, with the remaining pages blank. The album includes a broad variety of literary and religious content: poetic extracts from Cowper; a sketch of lake Windermere, lines of poetry in the hand of the poet James Montgomery and another poem in the hand of French artist Alphonse Dousseau.

Correspondence and miscellaneous papers of George C. Harlan, chiefly covering his Civil War experience. The bulk of the collection consists of his letters to his mother Margaret Simmons Hart Howell Harlan and younger brother Edward S. Harlan. George C. Harlan regularly reported to his "Philadelphia headquarters" war news and rumors and recounted the details of his hospital work, including the numerous challenges he faced in his effort to keep his camp and field hospitals up to the "hospital standards of Pennsylvania," and described his patients, colleagues, commanders, fellow officers, soldiers, escaped enslaved persons, and Southern secessionists. His letters contain accounts of the military operations and events he witnessed, including the capture of blockade-runners, the rampage of the Confederate armored warships, the Monitor and the Merrimack, the Peninsular Campaign of 1862, and the siege of Petersburg in 1864. The letters written from Confederate prisons describe Harlan's capture and his medical work in Confederate hospitals. Also included are letters by Ely McClellan (1834-1893), H.W. Rivers, surgeon-in-chief of Kautz Cavalry Division, and others, relating to Harlan's capture and efforts made to secure his release; Harlan's military and professional records, including his Navy commissions signed by Gideon Welles and his muster-out roll; letters of recommendation; pension documents; his obituary, and resolutions by veteran and professional societies and associations on the occasion of his death in November 1909. Also included is a copy of Harlan's book Memoir of Dr. William Fisher Norris, published in 1902.

Bissell, Eleanor. Autograph album

A one volume guest book, an autograph album, three slides, one piece of correspondence and a college diary are the only items in the collection that specifically pertain to Mary Eleanor Bissell. The remainder of the collection concerns her relatives, the most prominent of whom are her great-grandparents, Eleanor Mills Bissell and Thomas Bissell (fl. 1796-1848). The collection contains around forty pieces of correspondence relating to her great-grandparents as well as over a hundred items relating to the Bissell family business. The business papers include court summons, bills of sale, receipts, promissory notes, quit-claim deeds and an account book, all dated between 1738 and 1836. The collection also contains documents on the genealogy of the Bissell family in Windsor as well as eighteen photographs of family and friends.

Mary Parker, Countess of Macclesfield, botanical album, 1756-1767

A botanical album created by Mary Parker, Countess of Macclesfield; she started the album in 1756 when she was 30 years of age. Flower painting had become a fashionable occupation for the wives and daughters of the great houses of England and Mary Parker achieved exceptional ability under the tutelage of Georg Ehret. The album contains 48 watercolor and gouache paintings on parchment; depicted are both sides of the plant's leaves and also shown are more than one reproductive stage for each specimen: with the early formation of the blossom, the growing petals, and the full expression of the flower. The images in the album depict numerous plant specimens, sometimes with butterflies and other insects, most likely local to the Macclesfield estate, Shirburn Castle, in Oxfordshire. Many of the illustrations are identified by names predating Carl Linnaeus' binomial plant nomenclature in his "Species Plantarum" (1753), while other notations on the illustrations include Linnaeus' names. The album is bound in a contemporary, richly gilt morocco wallet binding, with interior green silk ties; the binding is likely by Richard Montagu. The pages in the album are marked with the Macclesfield armorial blind stamp. It has a lock and key fastening, and while the original key is present, the lock has been deactivated by a professional restorer, please do not attempt to use the key; also present is a red velvet bookmark.
