    An album of 39 photographic postcards of scenes of rural and city life in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, taken by unidentified photographers in the 1930s. The commercially-made images have captions in Spanish etched into the negative, and many have an MF mark for The Mexico Photographic Company. The images include street scenes, outdoor markets, city buildings and bridges, as well as automobile, bus, and train travel. Detailed scenes of rural life include women selling pots or washing clothes at the river, family groups posing in front of their homes, and men in labor activities such as loading lumber onto mules.

    Photograph album of U.S. Asiatic Fleet serviceman stationed in the Philippines

    Visual Materials

    A photograph album chronicling the travels of an unidentified U.S. Navy Reserve officer while serving with the Asiatic Fleet and the Pacific Reserve Fleet, from 1912 to 1920, while stationed in the Philippines. The photographs also incude Shanghai, China and San Diego, San Pedro, and San Francisco, California, with a visit to the Panama Pacific International Exposition. There are also images of the USS Maumee launching in California, the USS South Dakota, and several other Navy vessels and facilities in and around Manila, Subic Bay, and the naval base at Olangapo, Philippines. The mostly snapshot images also depict Philippine residents in everyday activities, a 1920 Fourth of July parade, indigenous Philippine inhabitants in an archery contest, street scenes, and a funeral. Handwritten captions appear throughout the album, and some images have captions in the negative.

    Aurora Studio and Kenji Uchida photographic postcards of the Philippines

    A collection of 52 photographic postcards and some unmounted photographs of the Philippines created by two Japanese-owned photography studios based in Zamboanga City prior to World War II. The images by Kenji Uchida and the Aurora Studio date from approximately 1906 to the 1930s and depict scenes in the Zamboanga region with a few in Jolo. Subjects include people in everyday activities; street scenes and bird's-eye-views; Moro people praying in the chapel; coconut husking on a farm; ships; schools, prisons, and church buildings. Most photographs have identifying captions produced on the prints.
