Description: This small group of items include four notes, presumably written by Alfred A. Cohen, and four empty envelopes (all addressed to Cohen). The notes relate to a E. R. Nuñex and the sheets of paper have a stamp from Ensenada, Mexico. Some of the notes were written on the back of a blank invoice: "Su Cuenta Corriente con Eulogio Romero, Ensenada, Baja, Cal."

The collection includes letters and documents (including 8 scrapbooks and 2 volumes of transcripts) chiefly related to the years following the failure of Adams & Co., especially as they affected Alfred A. Cohen, who was appointed first receiver of the company. Other subjects covered in the collection include Cohen's business and legal associations (1864-84) with the Central Pacific Railroad Company and the 1876 trial, Central Pacific Railroad Co. vs. Alfred A. Cohen. Significant persons represented in the collection include: Alfred A. Cohen, Frederick Cohen, Augustus G. Richardson, H. A. Whiting, and Isaiah Churchill Woods. There is also an affidavit by James King of William and some materials related to the firm of Hoge & Wilson.

The Strachan-Tuck family collection includes correspondence, notes, memoranda, legal documents, financial documents, and newspaper clippings. The papers primarily relate to the Tuck family's life in Petersburg, Virginia, during the two decades before the outbreak of the American Civil War. There are a few pieces of Civil War items, including a post war invoice for $10,000 of Confederate bonds consigned for sale to a Liverpool banker.
