Steen and presented at the 13th Annual Meeting of the Midwest Junto [for the History of Science], April 11, 1969, and the 17-page essay by Steen on which it was based. Both manuscripts address the role of the demonstration lecture, a popular type of public instruction in London in the early 18th century, in the popularization of science. Also includes typed letter to Bern Dibner dated 1969, May 26, discussing Dibner's request for a copy of the Junto paper.

Greenwood, librarian at the Burndy Library, in which Gooding writes that the paper, which Gooding read at the Winter meeting of the BSHS [British Society for the History of Science] at Chelsea College on 1977, January 8, was the first part of a longer, more detailed study of Faraday's Experimental Researches, slated for publication.

These letters by James Henry Gleason are vivid impressions of a colorful period in the history of the Sandwich Islands and of Alta California from 1841 to 1859. These letters have been published by The Arthur H. Clark Company in a book entitled Beloved Sister the letters of James Henry Gleason. There are two unpublished letters. The first was written by Jose Bandini to [James Santiago Johnson] on May 12, 1833 from San Diego, California. The second letter was written by Dorothy Gleason to Agnes C. Conrad on November 17, 1969 concerning an invitation to the 54th Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Kapiolani at Iolani Palace. There are also three deeds concerning land lots.

Myron Hunt Papers

The collection consists of papers dealing chiefly with the work of Myron Hunt and Virginia Pease Hunt with philanthropic and civic organizations in Pasadena, California, from 1917-1946. There are also two sketchbooks by Myron Hunt (1894) and thirteen journals (1893-1913) of his first wife, Harriette Boardman Hunt, written from Europe, Evanston, North Carolina, and Pasadena and Palm Springs, California, from 1893-1913. While some of the materials concern the life and architectural work of Myron Hunt, quantitatively, the collection is weighted toward the story of Pasadena from 1903 to 1946. The collection also contains sub-groups consisting of the papers of Myron Hunt's son, Robert Nichols Hunt, and of the Boardman and Nichols families. Some of the philanthropic organizations in which Myron and Virginia Pease Hunt were active are represented in the collection. These include: California Junior Republic, Huntington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena Army & Navy League, Pasadena Association, and the Pasadena Block-Aid Committee. Persons represented in the collection include: Myron Hunt, Virginia Pease Hunt, Henry A. Boardman, Robert Nichols Hunt, Harriette Boardman Hunt, and New Mexico author Paul Horgan (a friend of Robert Nichols Hunt). Some notable items in the collection include: Boardman, Henry Augustus. Frank Henry hunting diaries

This collection contains 18 Seasonal Diaries, bound into two volumes: 1877, October-1887, April (HM 82610(1)), and 1887, November-1898, October (HM 82610(2)). The diaries are made up of Spiers and Son's printed Hunting Registers and record Hunt meets with the Beaufort Hunt and others; dated manuscript entries in ink include: date, pack, fixture, hack ridden to meet, hunter ridden, coverts drawn, foxes found, weather and usually a few lines of narrative summary of the day's events. HM 82610(1) also has one page of autograph notes laid in and various newspaper clippings pasted onto pages; HM 82610(2) contains an autograph letter by the 9th Duke of Beaufort (Mar. 31, 1890) pasted in, as well as various newspaper clippings.
