The journal chronicles a couple's six-month trip from Waukegan, Illinois through Colorado, Utah, and Mexico, to California, August 1920 to February 1921. The entries discuss: train travel, automobile travel, the couple's activities between Salt Lake City, Utah, and Los Angeles, California, visits to Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico, San Diego, Long Beach, Venice, Hollywood, and Pasadena, California (with a visit to Busch Gardens). The journal contains 40 gelatin silver photographs taken during the trip. Following the trip narrative, the journal includes a listing of houses they bought from 1921 to 1926.

A photograph album of people with their motorcycles and automobiles, on outdoor excursions in Southern California in the early-20th century. Most images have writing on the back and feature a group of two men and two women named Eleanor, Hazel, Otto, and Russell (surnames unknown). In one photograph, they stand next to their motorcycles, wearing goggles, with pennants reading: "1915 San Francisco," "Riverside," and "Redlands," presumably in the midst of a road trip. Otto is also seen standing in front of a "New Era Motor Cycle" store in Redlands, California, and pushing his motorcycle with a spare tire strapped to the front. Other images include riders in an automobile in Tijuana, Mexico, 1915; visiting Big Bear Lake and dam; and a caravan of automobiles driving up a mountain road. Three photographs at Lake Arrowhead feature an Essex Motor Company automobile painted with advertising reading: "The N-Durance Essex, driven by Charles H. Holdson," 1923.

A photograph album documenting an automobile trip taken by friends across the western United States (with excursions into Canada and Tijuana, Mexico), during the summer of 1928. The first page is titled "Trip West 1928" and includes an image of an automobile covered with travel decals captioned: "Home after 10,000 miles." Photographs show the travelers visited many national parks, including Crater Lake, Yellowstone, Glacier, and Yosemite, as well as other tourist attractions such as Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Catalina Island, Hollywood, the Redwood Highway, Vancouver, and Canada's Waterton National Park. Some images show the unidentified young men dealing with automobile trouble, hiking in the mountains, camping, and posing with an "old" and "new" car. The majority of the snapshots were taken in the West, but there are some images of tourist attractions in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, all identified in handwritten captions. The album has three pages titled "My Pals" for autographs; several men and women signed their names and home towns, dated between 1929 and 1933.

This unsigned journal, attributed to Benjamin Baxter, describes a journey from New York to California via Panama, as well as his experiences in the California gold mines and his voyage back home. Dated March 25 through September 22, 1850. Many pages damaged.

Photograph album of an automobile road trip from Chicago to Arizona

An album of 116 photographs with handwritten captions documenting a 1935 automobile excursion from Chicago, Illinois, to Boulder Dam (later Hoover Dam) in Arizona. The unidentified young, male photographer and his companions crossed the Great Plains to Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, then proceeded to southern Utah and northern Arizona to visit other national parks including Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Grand Canyon. Photographs depict scenery and natural wonders such as geysers and mud pots in Yellowstone, as well as corn fields in Iowa and wheat fields in Nebraska. The travelers are also seen fishing, camping and hiking along the way. The album also includes scenes in Chicago and seven images of their wrecked automobile after a crash in Wyoming.

Glen Canyon rafting trip manuscript

This manuscript, a mimeographed copy, provides a detailed account of a recreational raft trip through Glen Canyon on the Colorado River, in Utah, during the summer of 1958. The anonymous author describes the river, the scenery, the behavior of and interactions of the members of the excursion and their enjoyment of the adventure. There is a full-page map of their route and two pages of illustrations. The last six pages lists the 36 participants of the trip.
