This manuscript, which includes photographs, is a record of the substations, transformers, cable laying, and the like used for the electrification of the Cheadle and Gatley area near Manchester, England in 1922 to 1925. The photographs show equipment, material, buildings, and the people involved in the work. All of the photographs are labeled.

All of these letters deal with the business of the Atlantic Telegraph Company and the telegraph cable. The majority of the letters are written to Charles V. Walker (although there are four written by him). The authors of the letters include: Wildman Whitehouse, chief electrician of the Atlantic Telegraph Company (6); George Saward, secretary of the Atlantic Telegraph Company (6); Robert Main of the Royal Observatory (1); and Thomas Pollock (1). There are also three pieces of ephemera.

Henry Labouchere letters to Robert Giffen

Four letters written by Henry Labouchere in London to "Giffin." Three of the four letters reference Alexander McEwen negatively, suggesting that McEwen was manipulating cable company shares. The fourth letter, written on Direct United States Cable Company Limited letterhead, concerns the progress of laying telegraph cable.

Personal account book of Thomas T. Eckert, the head of the Washington office of the United States Military Telegraph, for the year 1864. The manuscript fills a Pocket Diary 1864 (New York: Published Annually for the Trade); a 2 cent U.S. revenue stamp is affixed to the title page (an unusual version of the Liberty head).
