    Sydney Ross typescripts and letter to Bern Dibner

    Six typescripts, one periodical with an article, and one letter written by Sydney Ross and sent to Bern Dibner. The collection contains three versions of Faraday Consults the Scholars, a lecture given by Ross at the Burndy Library in 1957; HM 83202 and HM 83202 a typescript versions of the talk from 1957 and 1960, and HM 83204 is a typescript of the author's prepublication edition of Faraday Consults the Scholars: The Origin of the Terms of Electrochemistry. Materials also include a typed letter from Ross to Bern Dibner dated 1958, December 9; three typescripts by Ross on various topics in the history of science; and an issue of Rensselaer Research, Summer, 1958, with an article by Ross.

    Isaac Newton et ses travaux: copy of book chapter

    This manuscript is a handwritten transcription, in French, of the Chapter "Newton et ses Travaux" from Bertrand's book Les fondateurs de l'astronomie moderne: Copernic, Tycho Brahé, Kepler, Galilée, Newton, par Joseph Bertrand. it was a gift from Francisco José Mariano Duarte, a Venezuelan mathematician and scientist., to the Babson Institute in 1956. Duarte may well be the author of the manuscript. It is bound in leather and the cover is stamped "Babson Institute" with "Newton" on the spine.

    Certificate of No Incumberance [sic] written and signed by Benjamin Jones, Clerk of the Probate Court, Hancock County, Mississippi. He states that there is no "Record in my Office, any judgment, mortgage, or lien against the Negro girl Mary, the property of Nicholas Carron" (1851, Dec. 9). The document is a copy. HM 79205.

    In epistulam ad Hebraeos: fragment

    This manuscript is a fragment from a binding; copied out by an unknown scribe. The majority of the fragment appears to be from Chapter 10, Homily 17, which is concerned with the Book of Hebrews 9:24-26. The text is in Greek in black ink with red initials; it is undated but possibly from the 11th through 13th centuries. The leaf is damaged, with an old repair; also stained, with missing text.
