- This albums contains water color images of over 101 different butterfly species, mostly from Europe with some from America, India, Suriname and China. Most of the images are labeled with the butterfly's German and Latin name. The artist, who is unknown, also painted images of caterpillars and chrysalis. The preparation of the album appears to have been done over a number of years with individual leaves done separately and then collated before binding together with 18th century and 19th century leaves occasionally intermixed.
