Includes indentures and contracts for land sales, driving a mule train, the operation of toll bridges (including the Bullards Bar Bridge and one on the North Yuba River), public highway right of way, mining claims (including the Connor and Daily mine in the Cherokee Mining District), and an account of provisions provided to the Yuba County Hospital. Other items include a list of tax payers in Yuba Road District No.6, a report of criminal activity in New York Township, a variety of expense reports and claims submitted to Yuba County, a resolution on water rates in Yuba County, a letter regarding building a wall near the Marysville Courthouse, an expense claim for the 1889 Mechanic's Fair Exhibit in San Francisco, a letter regarding the Marysville Tunnel and Quartz Mining Company, and a letter and map regarding redistricting in the Buckeye County School District.

Spring Valley Water Company, Yuba River Project: report

This report was written by engineer Samuel Storrow "at the request of the Spring Valley Water Company in order to make a record of certain studies of The Additional Water Supply Available for Greater San Francisco." It looks at two main possible supplies of water: the Yuba River and the San Joaquin River. The report includes a table of contents, tables, and black and white photographs.

The collection contains 260 pieces, including ephemera. The bulk of the material is correspondence; however, there are a few business records and legal documents throughout the collection. Most of the letters in this collection were written to Morgan after he had moved back to Vermont. His partners are writing to keep him apprised of business matters. The majority of the correspondence deals with the legal problems the Sierra Union Water and Mining Company was facing due to the hydraulic mining process. Some specific subjects discussed in these letters are: hydraulic mining, lawsuits, mining law, mining claims, claim jumpers, water rights, mining equipment, abandoned mines, and land disputes. Many of the letters are written from or related to San Francisco, St. Louis, Sierra County, and Marysville, California.
